Thank you & Links
SAS would like to thank the continued support of its many ‘silent’ helpers working behind the scenes. These include my longsuffering family and friends who are permanently 'on-call' for emergencies. You guys know who you are (I am not going soft, honest!!). I would particularly like to thank my mum, and my friend Mike Smith, who provided many of the photos featured on this web site. Finally I would like to thank the following organisations for their support.
...Greenfields Farm, where our sanctuary is based. Without their support and understanding SAS would not have been able to develop and evolve in its caring for and saving of animals. Greenfields Financial Management greenfields.biz (01258 857101), who have provided invaluable advice and are also on site.
...The Barn Equine Surgery www.barnequine.co.uk (01202 823512) has provided invaluable 24 hour response for all our equine emergencies, including ensuring a vet is available when I ‘drop in’ with a wild pony in the lorry! They also deal with the routine matters of vaccinations and dentistry. They have become used to ‘expecting the unexpected’ and always cope. Knowing advice is only a phone-call away is so reassuring and hopefully we don’t abuse it too often!
...Aniwell Veterinary Clinic www.aniwell.co.uk (01202 591208) is responsible for all the other animals. Hadyn O’Neile has helped in all sorts of emergencies, including x-raying a sheep, suturing wounds as well as administering vaccinations. He also gives advice over the phone as required and again, I hope I don’t hassle him too often.
...Peter Tuson, farrier, who has been shoeing and trimming our horses for 30+ years, has always come out the following day in emergencies.
...County Forge (01202 813890 / 07711034064). Taff, farrier, got involved when Cinders needed treatment at The Barn. He specialises in awkward hoof conditions as well as routine shoeing. He was also involved in the care of Gina (
click on Gina for link). When Peter retires, Taff will have the unenviable responsibility of all the animals hoof care.
...Quality Landscapes (01258 451979) has been responsible for all the fencing and general maintenance at Greenfields Farm for many years. Their workload has increased since our arrival, as horses have a tendency to go through fences willy-nilly and damage posts etc and one incident my driving was to blame! They have built a barn to shelter any ill animals and recently provided a ‘hard-standing’ area. Additional to these talents they are qualified landscape gardeners.
...Vines Close Farm Shop www.vinesclosefarm.co.uk (01258 857278). These are our local suppliers of all the animal food required, including human treats. They also sell basic essentials for both humans and animals and are open 7 days a week, which is handy as our animals seem to break things at weekends! Many times I have ‘de-thawed’ in their coffee shop!
...Ground Power Ltd www.groundpower.com (08451 302711) generously helped to replace our stolen generator in summer 2007. Without their kind contribution we would have struggled to find a replacement and been left without power for some time.
... Last but by no means least, I must thank my work colleagues at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Accident and Emergency Department, who have inspired and supported me throughout this venture.
Thank you all so very much!
